I was cringing that they had heard this, because then I knew a flood of questions would soon follow from B. So after dinner tonight, he wanted to sit with me, arraigning me with his queries...
"Mom, what would you do if I died?"
...I would be devastated, B...
"Mom, what would Dad do if you died?"
...he would be devastated, B...
"Mom, can a daddy have a baby if there is no mommy?"
...no, daddies need mommies to have babies...
"Mom, why do daddies need mommies to have babies?"
...because only mommies can carry the babies...
"Mom, does it hurt you when they take babies out of you?"
...yes, but there's this thing called anesthesia...
"Mom, what would I do if you died?"
...you will be fine, because you will know that you will be with me again someday...
"Mom, how will I know that?"
...you will need to pray and ask Heavenly Father to help you know...
It is hard when your children force you to look inward. Your faith is tantamount to the foundation of theirs. But I know families can be together forever. My children will know this about their mother.

I LOVE this! I have yet to answer REAL questions and somehow I'm totally scared that I will not say the right things. I love your honesty and even more.. I love how simple the truth can be!
i just feel peace when i think of eternal families. i just hope i really don't have to put that faith to the test.
Love this.
And the photo - so great.
The photo makes me think you're looking up to HF.
What a good mom. I probably would have said don't you want to watch a show :) I am glad that you had good answers, I am going to steal them from you.
Family is everything. There's nothing more difficult that when that is shaken. The only thing that gets us through is our faith.
Okay, so now I am wondering who you were talking to. Who in the ward has lost a child that I don't know about? I need to talk to them! And...great answers. We have had those talks many times in our house. I will never forget when Zach asked me where Andrew was going to sleep. It was priceless!
i'm kind of dreading a teensy bit the day fox becomes more introspective than his dense mother. you seem to handle these moments like a pro.
i never told you before, but i love this post. and mom's right, it looks like you're all looking up at HF.
you have to live closer than MX, so i can send B next door to your place when she asks funky questions that make me stutter.
