new moon and other stuff

Photobucket

Dude. I love this picture. We look so eager. It was inadvertent, however, as we were taken by surprise by the sudden camera flash, but let's not kid ourselves. We were eager.

So the movie came out a day early here in Mexico. The drug cartels probably pulled a few strings for their teenage daughters and we went and watched the 5pm showing yesterday. What did I think of it? Well, let me tell you. I think it was ten times better than the last one, though I still feel there was entirely too much open mouth breathing, general awkwardness and the vampires still aren't pretty to me. Jacob, on the other hand, stole the show. For me, he was the most believable in his role. Everyone else distracted me with their, well... open mouth breathing and general awkwardness.

Vampire/werewolf shenanigans aside. Guess where I'm going tomorrow! Sweet love, I'm headed to the homeland. In just a little while, I'll be breathing cleaner air, caressing Target shelves and eating Life cereal. If we don't meet in cyberspace before then, happy Thanksgiving, friends! xoxo.

love

Me oh my. Look at those little whipper-snappers. We had no idea what we were doing. But sometimes I think major life decisions are meant to be experienced when we are young. When we are full of naivety but also full of hope and faith and haven't yet been overcome by the cynicism of life experience. We took a leap then and will be forever grateful now.

Yesterday was our anniversary. We spent it at home with root beer floats and planning our 10-year anniversary trip to... Italy, I think. But right now, nine years feel like the sum of perfection.

when dad is home

We play catch. (Try not to be jealous of my husband and his babilicious socks-with-crocs look. I know it will be difficult.)

So proud.

"Okay... GO!!!"

Boom! One down.

Rematch. It's on.

L cheats.

This is how we take down Daddy.

Life is just more fun when Dad is home. I try not to take it personally.

At the end of all the baking, I got a red star sticker from L for my good behavior and excellent following of instructions. He is good to me. Though I am sure he was just hoping to ensure his generous portion of the baked goods. In any case, I accepted the bribe. Baby love tokens are my fave.

it was hard to stop once i'd started...

Photobucket

I was up to the wee hours of the morning the other night (3 a.m.) watching the 2009 BBC version of Emma on YouTube in 10-minute links. I liked it. It was Jane Austen-fabulous (though I think I will always be partial to the Gwyneth Paltrow version).

Johnny Lee Miller was appropriately swoon-worthy as Mr. Knightly (mostly) and Romola Garai captured the essence of Ms. Austen's claim to a "heroine whom no one but myself will much like." I love this world and I never want to leave once I've made my way in... all the picnics, dances and turns about the garden in empire-waisted frocks. I am secretly hoping that when I die, heaven is a bit like a Jane Austen novel.
