stroller envy

Sometimes los chiquitos don't want to walk. Though I do, on occasion, exhibit hard love, you don't leave bawling niños on a side street in Mexico City. Even for pretend. So I'm left to heave-ho the combined 70 pounds in my do-not-exceed-40-pounds Walmart special. Jealous much?

Good thing the sidewalks are so smooth and frictionless.

A 20-minute walk on these bad boys kills my fresh air buzz in a zippy. I need better transport. What are the latest stroller species these days? I'm out of the loop. I think I saw fifty McLarens at the park the other day. Is this the hottest stroller on the sidewalk? Or is this just Mexico City. Because in that case, maybe I'll set my sights a little higher than second-world commodity.

That is an awesome picture!
We have a Maclaren. We love it. It is more exspensive, but for us it is worth it. Since we travel a lot on planes it is super lightweight and small. That is just my opinion though!

i've got the quinny zapp. love it. it was a euro stroller, but is sold here now. it's a sturdy umbrella stroller (as in, it folds up SO easily). the not-umbrella version of this one is the quinny buzz. good city strollers. some places it's super expensive, but you can find good deals on it on different sites.

loveya.

p.s. you are hilarious. i can picture all of you guys out there. niños piled high on the stroller--instead of on scooters like other mexican families : ) the more the merrier!!

I love how you just stopped along the way to take all these great pictures!

You're getting to be a regular photojournalist since you must have your camera with you at all times. I remember how many bags you carried with you when you had the kids...so is the camera just one more thing slung across your shoulders?

yuppers, that macalren is suppose to be awesome. i don't have one since i still use my giant-bus-of-a-stroller, the graco one. the infant seat can clip in...so i guess i'll be using that for a while. but the maclaren makes a double (umbrella-type) stroller, so that would work well for you too. i think they run about $300 for the double one and the single one is about $100+

btw, saw the double one at the outlet once....am still kicking myself for not buying it!

Luke and Tess do the same thing! Like others have said above the macalren is the best, but are a little pricey. My sister has a single one and absolutely loves it! Seeing as this is probably my last kid i decided on the evenflo umbrella stroller...I couldn't bring myself to spend $120 on something I'll only use for one kid (or should I say Nathan would have killed me if I spent that much on an umbrella stroller!) But I really want one! :)

I'll throw in my two cents/pesos (Wah Wah) but I really think you should stick to your current setup. I'm sure it's building M and L's character. And your shoulder muscles. And. It's. Hilarious.

With that said, here is the fruit of my stroller research obsession. My name is Annie and I'm a strollerholic. Whew, I said it.

For those Mexican sidewalks, I'd go with the Phil&Ted's. . . (the one Suzanne has.) I didn't use it down there because my elevator was tiny and folding it was too hard compared to the Maclaren (probably the easiest double stroller to fold and carry EVER). So if you'll be folding it up all the time, don't get it. If that's not an issue, it's perfection, I tell you. Those air-blown tires and the superb steering will make you go wow. It's the only double that I can steer with one hand. AND, since I purchased mine three years ago, they've come out with a new model that is supposed to be a breeze to fold. Check it out.

I used a double Maclaren which is fantastic--it lasted through that concrete jungle getting at least 2 uses per day. Nuff said. But if only I had a bigger elevator. . . that Phil&Ted's would have been easier to push around. The only problem is the price tag--but look on ebay. I got mine there for much cheaper.

Good luck on your hunt. May strollerland be good to you.

P.S. I miss you! Don't have too much fun without me. . .
