B was so excited to see his friends again. How different from last year! When he had no friends and knew no Spanish and still had bottom teeth. We've even graduated from velcro and now know how to tie our shoes. A myriad of changes can happen in a year.

When he arrived home, he declared that 1st grade is "way funner" than pre-1st. I'm hoping we can maintain this same level of enthusiasm all year long. He now does half a day in English and half a day in Spanish. I can't believe I have a first-grader. Everyone says it. Everyone means it. Cliches are such for a reason.

B is, by nature, thoughtful and observant, but it often makes him anxious about life. He knows how to con his brother, how to cheer up his sister, and remembers everything you tell him. Also, if attention span and one-track-mindedness were Olympic sports, he would take home the gold. When he has a goal in mind, you cannot distract him. Don't even try. He, himself, has mastered the art of distracting others (namely his siblings whilst attempting to hide his precious legos from them) and knows the tricks of the trade. But he has an insatiable thirst for knowledge and will ask and ask and ask some more. I love my B and am proud of how he has adjusted to life in Mexico, how quickly he has learned Spanish, how well he takes care of his brother and sister, how much I depend on him to help me, and the good choices he makes every day. I feel privileged to be his mother.

Some faces have "intelligent" written all over it. He had that kind of face since he was a baby. Just like you. I can't believe that I have a grandson in first grade! Time is flying.
1st grade. That is crazy! I am glad that he liked it.
No. . I can't believe you have a first grader!!! Seriously! He is the cutest little first grader I've ever seen too- pillow crease and all:-)
PS- I love the blog makeover- it's really cool. I wish I could make mine look good.
PPS- I could never be Primary President or any President for that matter- but I have been in the presidency and finding people you work well with is hard to come by, so I don't blame you for being emotional whatsoever:-)
I think the pillow crease could only be cuter if there was a dried streak of drool down his chin.
But, ah how sweet. I love mother's observations of their babies. One day I've got to hear B speak spanish.
Yay for 1st graders! I still picture B and Courtney in their little preschool group -- B with his cars clutched tightly in his fist. :-) What a great kid!
Oh Noe,
They're getting so big. Time is passing us by too quickly!!! Stop it!! Chase is almost 4! I mean, 3 you can still call a "baby", but 4 is such a big boy. sigh...
I hear ya, lady! So glad he had a great first day. What an amazing experience you're able to give your kids by living in another country. We want to do it but don't see it happening anytime soon. Germany or Italy call my name though!!!
i am going to cry on caleb's first day of kindergarten. i saw a walmart commercial with the mom sending her little kid off on the school bus and it made me teary-eyed.....
