life goes on

Mom is currently in Scandinavia, Audrey is busy visiting family in Utah and Danielle is somewhere in Cambodia. It's hard to get motivated without my fan base of three sending threatening emails encouraging the cyberspace beast of blogdom. But the past week warrants honorable mention. So aqui tienen.

A large portion of my spare time has gone to staring at paint chips. But so far I've only painted one wall in my apartment. Muted Mesa. I'm not supposed to paint our walls, but I couldn't stand the white any longer. They can take it out of my deposit. I grew up with a mother who paints her bathroom hot pink and the guest bedroom mango. Whether I wanted it or not, a craving for color was embedded on my brain. I have other plans for other walls.

I wish I could bring back the Tibetan red for my bedroom, but... but... no. Four coats of paint for a rented room isn't worth it, right? Right?? So I guess I'll go... green? Meh. Pics coming (I promise, Shauna!).

Also, we went to a birthday party where B got his face painted like Spiderman and L dressed up like a mermaid.

I have so many blackmail-worthy photos of this guy. If he really ticks me off with all his teenage angst, I'm going to threaten to buy a page in his senior yearbook and photo collage the madness.

The broken pinata came home with us. B was adamant.

We hosted a work party for Bruce's colleagues. Rockband with the Mexicans was wow. Thank goodness for no-fail mode in Rockband 2. Maybe if Rockband invested in a little Shakira or Ricky Martin?

We also spent some time at the zoo where M kept her face permanently smashed against the glass. How often do you think they clean those windows?

On Saturday we headed over to Xochimilco with friends where you'll find an abundance of boats, beer and mariachi bands. I hate mariachi bands. They make my skin crawl and my head hurt. And I feel bad saying that but not enough to not type out my feelings. How un-mexican of me. Last time we were here, Bruce asked for a second song from these dudes and I wanted to throw a water bottle at his face.

Then our day ended with a party with some filipinos. And what's an Asian shindig without karaoke? Emron stole the show with the most awe-inspiring rendition of Sweet Caroline that I've ever heard. It was like a Michael Jackson concert in Japan. The filipinos were enthralled.

So good, so good, so good...

can i just tell you that the pics of Luke totally crack me up. hey the way i see it, it's better if they get in touch with the sesitive feminie side early in life...leaves less room for exploration later:) anyway, have i admited lately that i'm starting to get semi-jealous of this filipino partying, mariachi bang singing, maid making the beds, dinner out with friends lifestyle that you got going on down there in Me-hee-co... decedent i tell ya...live it up. love ya much

Two out of the three times we've been to the zoo, we've seen someone washing the windows.
I hope that makes you feel better!

You DO need the red paint. It is worth it. I guess it depends on how long you'll be there, but most likely, it's worth it. For example, I NEEDED a red living room wall so bad that Tait had to paint it while I was in the hospital, like 3 hours after having a baby. I could not bring a baby girl to a colorless "eggshell white" home. Must be an Elizan thing...

love the mermaid bikini ensemble--way to keep it modest wearing the tee underneath it! haha
