the art of taking family pictures
Our good friend Josh took some pics of our family yesterday morning. It was eventful, wouldn't you say, Josh? Out of the 70 or so pictures he took, I think there were two that had us all looking in the direction of the camera. Maybe a few more. It's hard to say, because you get distracted by the queer face at least one of us (usually L, sometimes "against-my-religion-to-smile" B) is making in every picture. It's a good thing Josh is such a great photographer - see here for a taste of his awesomeness. But unfortunately, our fam isn't as cool - or as cooperative - a subject matter as Rome. So sorry, dude. We hope you still want to hang out with us after this.

Love the pics, Noelle! It's funny how you can never tell from looking at family pictures (esp. when little kids are involved) how much of an ordeal it is to actually get even one semi-decent shot. But you got some great ones! And the rest are fun to hang onto and torment your kids with when they are teenagers. :-)

Considering this was round 1 (my first with family pics, too!), we captured some really nice moments... and isn't that what a photo is about? :)
Hopefully, round 2 will be better... a few things occurred to me over the weekend, so we'll definitely do it again soon.

Noelle, the family pics are GREAT; I can appreciate the miracle of it all. i usually have to threaten maddie to get smiles; it's something i've been meaning to stop actually. anyway, i have to tell you, you look gorgeous. very rarely do we catch glimpses of YOU on your blog, and i had forgotten just how completely stunning you are (and you still got your big boobs btw which is a def plus) hmmm...this is starting to sound a little lesbian...whatev. probably too much Grey's anatomy (something else i've been meaning to stop...)

You guys make such a beautiful family. We have yet to get a family picture with everyone looking at the camera at the same time as well. I think once there are more than 4 people it is impossible. But, it captures the moment anyways.
I hope no one reads the comments on this post after me, but I just have to ask if you guys celebrated Halloween this year? I'm not sure if they do that down there- and maybe I should have looked it up before leaving a comment, but I came to your blog to see if your cute kiddies got dressed up. That's ok though because I love the family pictures!!!! I'm not surprised that you have an incredibly beautiful family. The first one is the best!!! I love it:-)
Lookin' good! Packed with personality. Who wants boring department store pics when you can get one like those. I'm amazed that you have coordinating clean outfits. That in itself is an accomplishment.

you don't need everybody to look at the camera to get a keeper shot. besides, what kinda photo would it be if it didn't capture one of those ... funny twitching faces. just like our nate. and jase when he was little. they could never be normal. now we see that those pictures were perfect: they aren't normal.

Josh is brilliant and he's going to hear as much next time I see him. Amazing pictures and sometimes those pictures you get where you don't think the kids are cooperating turn out to be the ones you most cherish down the road. I love looking at all of our "mess ups" over the years because they are the ones that crack me up the most.
