viva méxico

We are moving to Mexico City with Bruce's firm this summer. His current start date is July 1. Habla espanol? Necessito practicar. Ayudame. Por favor. (Aud, how I do accents again on a PC?)

So yeah. Typing that out makes it all seem so official. Our house is going on the market next weekend. I've been knee-deep in discarded clothing and gargantuous amounts of trash. This is me so sad as I hold an empty, pink receiving blanket.

It's not that I actually want another baby. But what mother doesn't feel at least a little sentimental as she sifts through her children's outgrown baby things? Bruce's thoughts: "Dude, just get rid of that stuff already." Surely, not all dads are as sentimental as Bruce.

Luckily, my mom and grandmother are here to help me get my house ready. The pantry was a black hole of half-empty cereal boxes and stale crackers, but my mom attacked it with a vengeance.

BEFORE

AFTER

Twenty-four cans of diced tomatoes were extracted from the dark crevices of this pantry as well as a good seven or eight cans of enchilada sauce. And did you notice the five boxes of onion soup mix in the door shelves? I have this disorder where I buy things in bulk amounts. I worry I'll end up wishing I'd bought that 10th packet of jello whilst making a fruit salad. "I'm guessing this was part of your food storage?" my mom asked. Um, yeah.

noey. that should be five boxes of BISQUICK instead of Lipton onion soup mix, c'mon. or at least SOME kind of pancake mix.
and 24 cans of tomatoes? that should be nutella. 24 things of nutella.
yeah... that's my kinda food storage ; ) the healthy, nutritious, will-keep-you-alive type of stuff...or at least will-keep-you-smiling!

viva méxico!

ps. i'll ask andy again how to do that on a PC.

Is it bad that I thought your pantry looked organized in the Before picture? I loved the 3 boxes of Oatmeal Squares. I'm with Audrey...nutella over tomatoes anyday. But you make really good salsa, so prepare for Mexico by using all those diced tomatoes and enchilata sauces. Unfortunately I too have a habit of buying in bulk and then shoving it to the back of the pantry where it never sees the sun again.

I'm glad to see that you pack in plastic storage binds as well. I like to put a list at the top of the bind so when you open it, you know exactly what's inside and you don't dig through and mess up all your hard work.

Thank you for clarifying about the "wanting a baby"...I was starting to wonder after your last few posts.

So sad!!!! It's not unexpected, but still distressing nonetheless. But there are some amazing things to do in Mexico City and it will be quite the adventure. How many years will you be living down there?

hey ask your mom if she can head out my way when she's done organizing at your house..... :) I'm not sure if I've ever seen a cleaner pantry--she's giving Martha Stewart a run for her money!!!

ok. you're moving to Mexico City. I'm amazed at the pantry transformation. I'm also decluttering. Isn't it wonderful! Hopefully I make a little cash with all the stuff I have to sell at my garage sale!
