He played his game in a downpour last Friday. Something about standing there, watching my child furrow his brow and work to score a goal in the rain tugged at my heartstrings.
I always feel so out of place yelling for my child in English while the rest of the parents are yelling in Spanish. But I want to make sure B knows I am screaming for him. He is awesome and intense and loves the game. And there was this surreal moment last week where I thought, I am a mother... I am his mother. And felt surprised about it.

I know what you mean... although it doesn't make any sense when you try and say it out loud.
I think it's something about being a mom and home with no one as a witness and then being a mom at the soccer field and being identified as B's mom. I don't know. Just a theory but I've felt it too.
well written, the way you said it made me realize that i've felt the same thing..and have "felt surprised about it" too." i laughed at your kettle comment on my blog. i thought i was the only one that said that (like it was one of my crazy PA sayings...remember?) anyway, it made me laugh. yeah so, don't remind me how far i am behind in the blogging world..it's pathetic at this point. i'm convinced that if the air there were a little less polluted, you wouldn't have such a rockin' blog either. lol. love ya
