twister, you old duffer

Photobucket

So I just recently finished the last episode of Lark Rise to Candleford: Season 1. And now I miss Queenie and Laura and Alfie and Miss Lane. But I've been looking online only to find that there are four more seasons! My day has been made.

I first found out about this BBC series several months ago when I tried calling Mom's house one morning to find out that Mom, Audrey and Danielle had stayed up all night watching the whole first season. Like they started at 7pm and finished at 7am that morning. I called at 9am, and Aud said they were all sleeping and to call back another day. I know a lot of families that have stayed up all night watching 24 or Lost. I don't know many that pull all-nighters for a BBC series, though. I feel like this is what sets us apart from the typical, American family... among other things.

Anyway, Aud sent me Season One for my birthday this year. (She also got me a gift certificate to Athleta for my birthday last year. Isn't it so wonderful to have people in your life who know you so well?)

In other news, I've been mega stressed out lately. I developed a cluster of zits on the tip of my nose - not one... a cluster. And then rashy little patches of eczema started flaring up all over the place. My skin reacts so badly to stress. I also wasn't really eating from all the stress and lost about 5 pounds. So I guess there's that.

This week, though... this week is better. I can tell, because my skin is not so irritated, and my cluster of zits has eased down to just one big one. My appetite has also once again gained momentum as evidenced by the fact that I ate a dozen chocolate chip cookies in place of breakfast, lunch and dinner the other day. Hello again, five pounds.

Also in other household news, my kids are grody. And they are embarrassing. And sometimes I wonder why I had four of them. I guess that's not really news. But a good friend emailed me the other day asking my thoughts about a Baby #2. Of course I told her it's a no-brainer. Have that baby! I said. Because yes, my kids are grody and embarrassing and exhausting, but someday when Bruce and I have Alzheimer's, at least they'll have someone else to call family. At the very least, I can die happy knowing I've given them options.

Lastly, my friends, we are in the home stretch of this three-year Mexican adventure. Just two more months now. Let's start a bet for who gets the first traffic citation once we're back Stateside: me or Bruce. I know what Bruce will say. Sadly, he might be right.

ok ok, i know i'm sensitive to words, but your next post really needs to have some clean connotations. your last couple posts have successfully implied a handful of igh-ness: poo, grody, zits, eczema, poundage, ...i'm dying. give our family a little more credit, bc as of now we are all those words plus we stay up all night to watch BBC. weirdos! : )

somehow you manage to use these kind of words and still have a good post : ) i love your blog, noey. even though i know what's going on in your life, i love to read about it every day : ))))) haha. even when i'm in the same room as you.

love you so.

p.s. i forgot i gave you an athlete gift card. glad to contribute to your mountain of black workout pants. too bad we can't bury you in your favorite pair.

Yeah, it doesn't matter if you're in highschool or a mother of 4. Zits can ruin your day. I am the SAME way. Come family reunion, a holiday, whatever... hello zits. I even hate the word. ZIIITS. I remember in high school, if there was a dance or photos of some sort, I would get a zit on each cheek. Completely symmetrical. Like a freakin clown. Ugh...
