My hormones are spinning out of control. I mean, really, when are they not? Because there's PMS (this can last for at least 10-14 days beforehand), and then there's the actual event (which is heinous all by itself) and then there's Post-MS (because you are exhausted and anemic). When all is said and done, there are generally only three days of sanity in a woman's cycle.
It started yesterday. I mean the hormonal mood swing. I was listening to Les Miserables in the car and started tearing up during "Castle on a Cloud." This is not normal behavior. Understandable, but not normal. Les Mis was my first introduction to the Broadway experience. I first fell in love with this musical when I was 10 years old. My parents had gone to see it in Washington, D.C., and they brought home the full, unabridged soundtrack with a lengthy sleeve (folded multiple times) containing the storyline and song lyrics. I spent hours, days, weeks pouring over the music and memorizing even those transitional lines between songs and scene changes.

"Oh, no! I think I hear them now!
And I'm nowhere finishing sweeping and scrubbing and polishing the floors!
Oh, it's her! It's Madam!"
And an unrelenting passion for all things Broadway ensued. What was I talking about again? Right. Hormones.
And then early this morning, M and I were watching So You Think You Can Dance clips on YouTube. She loves this so much, because as you know, she loves to dance and this just fuels her fervor. But then we watched this one, and I was tearing up like a two-year-old girl. It's of that BYU ballroom dance couple that is married and made it to the top 6 together this past season (Ryan and Ashleigh Di Lello). Anyway, this happened to be their only dance together on the show, and it happened at the very end. The first time I saw this, I didn't bawl like I did today. I mean, please. I was sane then (and because who else loved Kathryn??). I thought they were just sort of meh. But let's factor in hormones...
Oh, the tenderness.
So to recap, there is something seriously wrong with me right now. Les Miserables is the best Broadway musical ever written. And women are only considered sane three days out of the month.

i think all women can relate. you're not crazy, you're just a mom. crying over anything is normal. even over ryan and ashleigh :) i cried once during a walmart commercial (not lying!) it was about this mom letting her little kid get on the school bus for the first time. tear-jerker :)
I've been a slacker commenting on your blog, but I have been reading it :)
hope you guys are doing well. miss you!
That dance was perfect for a sweet couple in love. Wonderful. Tears came to my eyes too. Of course I'm PMSing too. I like your theory on women's sanity.
I hope they didn't get voted off after that.
you know, for me at least, the perfect song and the perfect visual can be totally inspiring. i love making little films and thinking of the perfect song to go with them. when you find the right combo, the emotion can be overwhelming. i think that's exactly what they did with this dance. boom. love it. i love how artistic you are. i wanna be you.
i guess when you blog together you cycle together. however, i think i missed out on the 3 days of sanity. i lost it way back when. i have to add that i'm emotional and RUDE. bad combo. i ditched a birthday party and a baby shower. messed up considering i never miss an opportunity to socialize and eat. the eating i manage to do plenty of on my own though.
broadway brings tears to me no matter what. it's just a happy place. so does sytycd. but if it makes you feel any better i cry at sporting events, football, soccer, olympics, etc. hormones have really gotten the best of me. thank goodness i'm a woman!
