Have I mentioned Bruce is a neat freak? He is. Clutter really stresses him out. The first thing he does when he comes home from work is start picking up toys and other various materials that may be littering our living space. And he has spawned a twin in B. It's almost frightening. No, let me clarify. It's downright jacked up.
The other morning I was really sick. I couldn't really get out of bed, and since it is Spring Break for the boys, Bruce was out of town, and my maid had the week off, I told B that I needed him to take over for a while. Well, he did. He got breakfast for the little ones, played games, turned on movies. Then it was time for us to go somewhere and he nearly flipped out.
While I was busy trying to wash my face and clothe my sickly body in appropriate attire for the public, he came rushing in to the bathroom (I have forgotten what it is like to go to the bathroom alone and uninterrupted.) "Mom!" he yelled. "This house is a disaster! We can't go anywhere until this place is cleaned up!" Then under his breath, he murmured, "Man, I wish Elisa was here." Elisa is our maid, by the way. Then he proceeded to go on a cleaning rampage, yelling manically at his brother and sister to kick into gear and help him out. He was frightening me. He was frightening his siblings. He was visibily distraught as he picked up discarded Memory game cards in my bedroom, toys strewn around the living room floor, throw pillows that had been placed strategically on the ground by probably L. I thought about videotaping him to show Bruce later and lecture about how he did this to his firstborn son. But again, I was sick. It was an effort to put on a shirt, you know what I'm saying?
B is a good kid. Sometimes he scares us. But mostly we don't know what we'd do without him.

Sounds like my husband!! :) Although, I have a slight OCD problem with clutter as well....

Love ya!

I am jealous! I need your boys to come to my house and whip my husband and boys into gear! It is an endless task keeping up with them... The fact that I totally appreciate this shows that I am clearly OCD, as well. But then again, I can't figure out why people think that's a bad thing??? I know...I know...
I love seeing kids through mothers eyes. They will love reading this blog when they are older. AND I might be scared but I wouldn't turn away a child of my own that likes to go on cleaning rampages. In fact I'll take two.
I love it. And I miss him. And you. And your perfectly clean house. And your BBQ chicken. MMM. Are you guys coming to visit your parents any time soon? I am dying to see you guys again.
Still sick? Man i thought by now you would be feeling better. And you know it could be worse, B could be a total and utter mess and dirty. I mean really dirty. Maybe he'll meet a girl one day that can help calm him down. I love that kid.
Paxton is kind of the same way. And I'm not. One day after we were married he looked at me and said, "I feel like your mother." Luckly we have both mellowed out!
See, I was that child. And I remember the stress of wanting to keep our house (full of NINE people + a dog) clean, even when I was like 6 or 7. Quite overwhelming! No idea where I got the gene. My parents are both disasters. My mom has a "pen drawer" that probably has 674 various pens, pencils & dead markers in it. Drives me crazy just to think about it.
Bless his heart.
that's so funny. ask bryson if he wants to hang out at my house this summer. i could use a neat kid!
That is nothing short of hilarious.
Oh man. It is awesome he is so responsible. It is scary to have another neat freak. =) But at least they help clean up and don't just complain about it.
