My parents left our apartment this morning after spending 10 days in the D.F. with us. There was a lot of screaming, chasing and tickling happening while they were here. Our neighbors probably hate us even more than they did 10 days ago. And now my kids are all mopey about life.
Then a few hours later we came home to a panicky voicemail message from my dad about how he left his exercise band at our house and that I better get it up and out of the way before one of my kids chokes themselves to death. Really, that's what his message said. Before they choke themselves to death. Can we get any more dramatic? He was probably sitting at the airport for two hours before their flight left stressing endlessly over whether or not I got his message, found the exercise band, and then put it away. Ever the worry wart. Remember this post and this post? So nobody run with toothpicks in your hand, because you might fall and poke your eyes out. Seriously, guys. Seriously.

the curse of being a doctor and having seen an awful range of possible accidents.
like don't hang your arm out the window when riding in the car--his friend's arm got cut off bc a rock ricocheted up and sliced his hand. be careful if you decide to pee off a mountain when you're camping {and drunk}. never leave your car running if you're going to get out of the driver seat. driveway accidents. boating accidents. etc...
and i'm pretty sure all five of us kids have choked on a fruit at some point in our lives, and papa heroically saved each of us.
oh and remember FHE activities where we'd practice what to do in various emergencies?
one time we pretended someone cut their finger. someone got to be the person cutting veggies at the counter. and one of us was to run the cut "finger" {a baby carrot} to the fridge and wrap it in ice, while another pretended to call 911. haaa.
now that i think about it. it was probably a last minute FHE after papa had dealt with something similar that day : )
oh, I love the paranoia. very sweet.
I feel very paranoid myself at times!
I am always yelling at Caleb to sit at the table and to stop running around with his fork. the kids can NEVER go in the front yard and I always keep the door bolted shut....never leave owen alone for a second in the tub.....no necklaces or balloons allowed in their bedrooms....and the paranoid list goes on!
I love your parents! I would be sad to if they left me after 10 days. Did they love it there? I can just see your mom at the pyramids wanting to paint them or something. Glad they made it down there to see ya!
hmmm, i know your parents left Mexico...but did you as well? where are you my dear and why aren't you updating your blog. is this what we can expect from "Noelle with no maid." no more blogging reguarly.
okay so i know it's only been a week, and i'm far worse, but i miss you and eccentric little entries. BLOG PLEASE!
ps. i love audrey's comment about the FHE emergency plans. that is too funny.
