commitment issues

Okay. I know I said I wanted to privatize my blog. I want to, but I don't want to. I can't really explain it without sounding dangerously moronic. I'd like to say it's because my grandmother won't be able to read my blog if I go private, but I don't think that's it. It's a little more... narcissistic. Like what if people don't read my blog because it's just too much trouble to log in? Or maybe some subconscious part of me wants perfect strangers to come across my blog and find it miraculously interesting. This is a sick confession, I know. I kind of hate myself right now, and I should not press "publish post".

P.S. Mom, I know you said you wanted to see pictures of Mexicans on this blog and proof that I am actually where I say I am. I'll be honest with you. While I have considered several shots from my car window, I haven't taken any pictures of "the natives" here yet, because 1) someone might steal my camera, and 2) someone might steal my camera and try to drag me out of my car. Maybe if I get a camera with a faster shutter speed.

I LOVE this post. This is exactly how I felt about going private. But when you start getting weird comments is when you need to worry!
Not to be more of a downer but when I went private my comments totally cut in half!
And you taught aerobics and stuff you should be able to out run the Mexicans trying to steal your stuff and get you :)

I was thinking the same thing. I also "made the announcement" about going private and now I'm having doubts. Private blogs don't come up on google reader and I just forget to read them. So do we look like weenies if we back out?
-Also, I don't get weird comments or anything, and I don't even know if someone could stumble across it. Is it a control issue? I don't know what to do. -(Becca)

it's like that question on that email quiz thinger that i get about once per year: "if you weren't you, would you be friends with you?" psh, le duh! ha. but seriously, you nailed it. thanks for being honest for me.

if you need some shots of the natives, there is often a cacophony of various street performers at any given time during the day in my barrio, and i've got a great 3rd floor view. close enough, but not too close. they can't be trusted.

I am Christine's sister in law. I met you when I visited with her in TX. I read your blog all the time and I was so sad when you said you were going private. So thanks for holding out just a bit so I can enjoy more of your adventures in Mexico.

you're too funny. I think everyone who has a public blog secretly hopes that strangers (normal ones, not creeps) find their lives super interesting or that their blog is going to be the next heather baileyish one. At least you had the confidence to admit it!

three cheers for honesty! I am so sick of peoples inability to "get real". this is my first time to your blog and I love it. your writing style is fresh and candid. from one perfect stranger to another, I am interested (but am in a realtionship so don't tell!).

also...would LOVE to do a family documentary in mexico city for you. how long will you be there for? lets make it happen!
